3-B Fiddle

Reinforce the skills learned in Fiddle 3-A and focus on improving bowing, speed, and dexterity by expanding your repertoire of fiddle tunes in various styles. 

You should begin class after taking Fiddle 3-A, or these skills:

• Explore and demonstrate simple syncopation in rhythm with blues and gypsy fiddle styles
• Introduce 16th notes, along with 8th note and 16th note combinations
• Introduce dotted eighth notes and 16th notes
• Understanding complicated rhythms, including compound time and waltz (¾) time
• Start playing various options of double stop, 2 note (chops) back up rhythms in various keys

You will finish class with these skills:

• Introduce hooked bowing
• Introduce 16th note slurs- 4 notes to a bow
• Comfortable playing complicated dotted rhythms and 6/8 time
• Understand and demonstrate syncopated rhythms
