Prerequisites: Guitarists should be comfortable with open and barre chords. Tab and chart reading experience recommended.

Jason McIntyre

GUITAR, SONGWRITING, UKULELE, MANDOLIN

As a teacher, Jason focuses on acoustic folk and blues music, but he teaches other genres including bluegrass, rock, and country. Whether it’s songwriting, guitar or uke playing, or in an ensemble setting, Jason guides students to develop their musical skills in an approachable and conversational style.

Jason came to songwriting early. When he picked up a guitar as an adolescent, he was more interested in creating his own material than covering what was on the radio and MTV. While The Beatles and Beach Boys were formative bands for him, The Band became a favorite as well and they helped open a new door to him of Americana and roots-based music. Like the lyrics of a song, Jason has traveled extensively and the music has always gone with him.
