RECORDING SOFTWARE, SONGWRITING, VOICE
Jen grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and has been singing in choirs since they could talk. They have studied opera, composition and studio recording in college, and learned to play some campfire guitar along the way. Jen leads the Women of Folk and Fireside Folk ensembles, and offers private lessons in voice, songwriting, or recording. With one foot in the classical world and the other in the folk world, Jen emphasizes technique as well as emotion while teaching so that students can learn more about formal music theory while also learning to rely on their ear to create a great performance. Jen loves hiking, eggs, yoga, in-season tomatoes, community, dreams, and cheese. Currently, they sing with St. Martin’s Chamber Choir and various churches and synagogues, and produce radio for Colorado Public Radio. Amphibious Heart is Jen’s most recent release, a full length studio album of original songs.
First Concert: The truth is Michael W. Smith with my Jr. High Youth Group, but can I just say The Meat Puppets & Blind Melon show I went to in High School?
What song could you listen to all day long? One song is hard, but I could loop Bjork’s album Homogenic all day long.
Favorite hangout? Long Table Brewhouse, Pablo’s on E Colfax
