Songwriting & Recording

Do you have some musical ideas floating around in your head? Have you ever wondered what it would sound like with the help of real songwriters? How about adding some drums and a violin part in the chorus? This camp will help your creativity move from your heart to the speakers and stage.

Campers will spend the first week writing and rehearsing original songs, then will go into the recording studio during the second week to create an album. Groups will be formed based on age and experience. The camp will wrap up with a performance of the campers' original music on Saturday afternoon, July 22nd.

House of Rock Summer Camp

Swallow Hill Music’s House of Rock Summer Camp is now in its 15th year! At House of Rock, students ages 11-18 will get hands-on experience necessary to play in a band with other musicians.

In each week-long session, campers will learn how to use their gear, play through a sound system, understand and read music charts, find and create a part in the band, write songs, play with other musicians, gain performance techniques, and develop skills for managing a performance group.

Camps are open to guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, vocals, horns, strings, and even banjo. If you have an instrument that is not listed, give our front desk a call and find out if we can make your instrument work in a band setting!

Attendees will get numerous opportunities each day to play and practice in duos, trios, and in a full band setting. All ensemble and band work is taught and directed by the camp faculty.

Each week of camp ends with a performance in Daniels Hall – complete with a full sound system, sound engineer, and lights.

Teaching style: Chad focuses on reading, ear training, ensemble playing, and improvisation. Teaching genres include soul, R&B, rock, jazz, folk, funk, and punk.

We do not have any mask or vaccine mandates for patrons, volunteers, and staff.

Performing artists may require vaccination, a negative Covid test, and/or masks to be worn by patrons, volunteers, and staff for their performances. Please make sure to check the event listing on our website and your email for any communications regarding these requirements.

We will continue to provide N95 and KN95 masks for those who would like them into the foreseeable future.

Refunds/Credits:

School: Refunds or account credits will follow our school cancellation guidelines, which states students may receive a full refund or account credit if the class is dropped before the start date. Students may drop a 6-8 week class and receive a partial, pro-rated credit or refund if the class is dropped at least 72 hours before the start of the 3rd class. After this deadline, students cannot drop and the credit/refund option is no longer available. Students may drop a 4-5 week class and receive a partial, pro-rated credit or refund if the class is dropped at least 72 hours before the start of the 2nd class. After this deadline, students cannot drop and the credit/refund option is no longer available.

Requests after those dates/timeframes will not be honored.
